Formerly a top fashion model, almost 5'10'' tall, Carey was a favorite with the top American designers such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father was an outstanding geologist who was in 1979 named Scientist of the year from the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey was brought up all over the planet due to her father's work. When she finished her studies at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, she started to do modeling as a side. It caught the attention of an agent at Ford Model Agency New York. The model moved to France in 1980. She stayed briefly in Paris and Bordeaux before deciding to return to New York to continue with her education at college and build a modeling career and was soon appearing on the covers of Vogue, Glamour, etc. As she modeled and continued to pursue her studies in full-time a major in literature at New York University. In time, she began to become interested in acting, and began studying at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. Her first acting experience was in an appearance alongside Robin Williams in the 1986 film 'Club Paradise. White water rafting, skiing and rock climbing are her favorite things to do.
