Awkwafina
Awkwafina, an American singer and actress began with a series of rap songs which dealt with the subject of race and sexuality. The career of the singer and actress grew to Hollywood when she dropped an album of raps. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her very first musical encounter. She played the trumpet. Also, she received classical and jazz training later becoming a hip-hop teenager. In the school, she focused on women's studies and journalism. She studied Mandarin during a time in Beijing. After graduating, it wasn't until that she turned her attention towards music. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an online hit, and it was featured on her debut album Yellow Ranger. On the album, there also were viral songs like Queef (body-positive) as well as NYC Bitche$1. The track that was second on the album linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide published in 2015, which was a different project. She opted to pursue acting as a profession following the completion of her previous two endeavors, author and musician. Her film credits include films such as Neighbors 2, Storks, and Bad Rap. In the year 2018, her breakout roles included Dude Ocean's 8 along with Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released by"In Fina We Trust in June in the same year.
